A Ship In The Woods is seeking 10 volunteers at a single time to come help out at our music benefit on May 18th. We are also seeking people interested in art handling and hands on experience installing works the week prior to the exhibition.
Our events are a great way to experience and become introduced to the local art and music scene. We encourage interdisciplinary efforts and outreach; this opportunity is open to everyone. We want to make sure we are giving back to our volunteers and can offer internship hours, volunteer interaction, job recommendations, career counseling, college recommendation letters, leadership experience, referrals to jobs, free tickets to our events, and free food! Please let me know if you have any other suggestions on how we can give back to you since we are unable to do this without you!

A SHIP IN THE WOODS BENEFIT 2019
Saturday May 18th
1pm - 10pm
@ A SHIP IN THE WOODS
3007 Felicita Road
Escondido Ca 92029
A SHIP IN THE WOODS nonprofit will host a day-long experimental sound, music, performance, and art benefit to raise funding for the expansion of its artist residency program to now include musicians. This will be a 2-week residency for artists looking to begin or finish a project.
In 2016, we received a grant from the County of San Diego to support the construction of a music studio. This benefit will help raise funds to finish the construction of the studio, which will include soundproofing, and recording equipment.
The event will happen on Saturday May 18th from 1pm – 10pm at its home headquarters adjacent to Felicita County Park in Escondido, California.
About THE SHIP is an 8-year old organization, that’s been incorporated as a nonprofit for 4-years. Our programs integrate science, technology, ecology, and environmental explorations, using the arts and music as ways to deepen human understanding and community integration. We sustain an active arts network and act as a hub for collaboration and new partnerships.
We have a 2-acre site that we are turning into horticultural and permaculture educational gardens with outdoor classrooms, a music recording studio and exhibition center. We’ve had 77 artists in residence and featured musicians, visual artists, as well as technology designers, and even comedians.
The site has a creek (OAK CREEK) the runs year-round and an ancient Oak Grove, and a forested Oasis with nature trails and two bridges that’s connected to Felicita Regional Park.
Please email volunteer coordinator jcverna@jcverna.art if you are interested in volunteering for our upcoming event or any future events!
